Janelle Saffin MP again has written to NSW Treasurer Matt Kean asking him to allocate $7.5 million from the NSW Budget to enable 66 new townhouses to be built on flood-free land in Lismore. She says it’s time for the Government to act decisively on the Northern Rivers’ housing crisis, compounded by floods.
Janelle Saffin MP has welcomed major NSW Government investments in future proofing critical water and sewerage infrastructure for the Northern Rivers region, and for upgrading four local showgrounds across our Electorate of Lismore.
Lismore is seeing the fruits of a regional roundtable organised by Janelle Saffin MP last December with Landcom developing planning packages for two townhouse developments, potentially adding 66 new units to the city’s housing stock.
Janelle Saffin is lobbying the NSW Premier for a regional flood mitigation funding package on behalf of four councils in the Lismore Electorate.
“Lismore City Council has a good case for this extra funding, outside the regular grants to councils, and I understand that Minister Farraway is responding positively to my advocacy.”
