LISMORE MP Janelle Saffin has congratulated five sporting organisations on securing funding towards new life-saving equipment under the Minns Labor Government’s Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program.
Ms Saffin said the popular program provides up to $3,000 to eligible sport and active recreation organisations for the purchase of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at local sports facilities.
“Our five recipients are among 190 successful organisations across NSW in this funding round, taking the total to more than 2,500 defibrillators awarded for use since the program was established,” Ms Saffin said.
Lismore Electorate recipients and their projects include:
- Tenterfield Golf Club – Tenterfield Golf Club AED.
- Kyogle Golf Club – Life Is Important.
- Findon Public Recreation Reserve Trust — A Defib for Bundgeam Tennis Court.
- Goonellabah Tennis Club – Defibrillator for Club Use.
- Lismore Basketball Association Incorporated – Lismore Basketball Association Defibrillator Acquisition.
The NSW Government has also awarded a $150,000 grant to the Heartbeat of Football Foundation to conduct research to identify which sports facilities have AEDs installed.
The findings of this research, which started in September 2025, will provide insights and guide future government investment in the vital equipment.
