Saffin announces funding to make Lismore Skatepark more family friendly

LISMORE MP Janelle Saffin has helped secure $9,250 in State funding for four shaded picnic tables for Lismore Skatepark users and their families. The project is being driven by the Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise.

MEMBER for Lismore Janelle Saffin has announced funding for Summerland Sunrise Rotary to install shaded picnic tables at Lismore Skatepark.

“This is a project the Rotary Club has been trying to get funded for some time and I am delighted to have been able to secure the money to make the Lismore Skatepark even better.

“The NSW Government funding of $9,250 is for the installation of four picnic tables under the trees so there is somewhere for parents to sit while their kids are skating.

“It was Rotary members from a skating family who first raised the idea, noticing that there was nowhere for families to sit while their children were skating.

“Something as simple as picnic tables will make a big difference, making the area more family-friendly and more inviting for parents to join their children at the park.

“In this way, the community can set the tone of the park as a family-friendly space.”

“Summerland Sunrise Rotary recognised the need and pushed for this project to happen for the benefit of the community and I was happy to throw my support behind it.

Chris Mortimer from the Rotary Club of Summerland Sunrise thanked

the NSW Government and the efforts of Janelle Saffin for supporting the funding for the Lismore Skate Park picnic tables.

“The community skate park enhances the opportunity for no-cost physical activity and entertainment for our young people.

“The picnic tables will provide shaded areas where parents can gather to watch and encourage their kids in a safe and supportive area.”

Lismore Council will install the tables.
