LISMORE MP Janelle Saffin has congratulated Tenterfield’s The Saddlers Mountain Bike Club on securing a $20,000 grant under the Minns Labor Government’s Regional Event Fund.
Ms Saffin said The Saddlers would use the grant to promote Gravel n Granite 2026 which is scheduled for May 16-17 and it was the second year in a row the club had received NSW Government support for marketing and PR campaigns.
“I’d like to acknowledge Club President Michael Lieberman, his Gravel n Granite organising committee, including Caitlin Reid, and the 70 volunteers who made this year’s event such an outstanding success,” Ms Saffin said.
“Gravel n Granite is one of Tenterfield’s premier regional events and makes a valuable contribution to the town and shire’s visitor economy.
“This year, the event brought over 1,000 people, including 500 riders, to Tenterfield and contributed over $667,000 to the local economy.
“This event plays a vital role in supporting local tourism, hospitality, retail and accommodation providers, particularly as it is held outside of the traditional peak season.
“There are three separate adventure rides – 38 kilometres, 66 kilometres and 91 kilometres – which start at the Tenterfield Showgrounds and follow Mount Lindesay Road and Black Stump Road into state forest and national park.”
The Saddlers Mountain Bike Club is one of 61 recipients of the 2025-26 Regional Event Fund worth more than $1.3 million.
The Regional Event Fund forms part of the Minns Labor Government’s commitment to strengthening local communities and growing regional visitor economies.
The program provides grants of up to $50,000 to help bring events to life – from marketing and PR campaigns to infrastructure and equipment hire to enhance the visitor experience.
