THE Minns Labor Government has announced a new round of the very popular Washing Machine Exchange Program.
Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin says the initiative allows eligible pensioners, veterans, social housing tenants and low-income households to trade in their top loading washing machine for a new 8kg energy-efficient front loader for just $250.
“Modern front loaders are significantly more energy and water efficient, and its estimated that making this switch saves households about $300 a year in power, water and detergent.
“The subsidised package for eligible concession card holders includes delivery to anywhere in NSW, installation, two-year warranty and the removal of the old machine for recycling, facilitated by The Good Guys.
“But I urge people considering the scheme to get in quickly because the last two rounds of the scheme saw all available washing machines snapped up within a week.
“It’s due to that overwhelming demand that the NSW Government has brought back the program for a third cycle, with another 6000 machines now available,” Ms Saffin said.
“The Washing Machine Exchange is part of the NSW Water Efficiency Program to reduce water waste, strengthen water security and cut household costs.”
