New recruits boost Ambulance workforce in Northern NSW Zone

NSW Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin has welcomed four new paramedic interns to the Northern NSW Ambulance Zone.

FOUR paramedic interns have officially been inducted and will serve in the Northern NSW Ambulance Zone, which runs from Tweed Heads to Wooli and west to Bonalbo.

The paramedic interns will be posted to local stations to complete the on-road portion of their 12-month internships, before taking permanent positions in regional and metropolitan areas.

They join 35 new paramedic interns and 27 trainee emergency medical call takers, after they were officially inducted into the service in a ceremony at the State Operations Centre, Sydney Olympic Park, last week.

There are now around 750 new paramedics and trainees, plus 130 emergency medical call takers who have joined the service since the beginning of the year, further boosting frontline health services across the state.

Lismore MP and Minister for the North Coast Janelle Saffin said the induction of these recruits reflects the continued growth and advancement of NSW Ambulance.

“By taking on these roles, the new officers have shown a strong commitment to the NSW Ambulance service’s core principles of integrity, compassion, and service to their local communities,” Ms Saffin said.

“I welcome them and wish them every success in their careers as first responders.”
