LISMORE MP Janelle Saffin has welcomed five paramedics in training who last week were officially inducted to the Northern NSW and New England Ambulance zones.
Ms Saffin said the new recruits (3 for Northern NSW and 2 for New England) are among a cohort of 91 new student paramedics in NSW Ambulance’s first induction ceremony of the year.
“I wish all of these paramedics in training the very best for a rewarding career as they undertake a four-year Post Employment Tertiary Pathway (PETP) course,” Ms Saffin said.
“Paramedics in training are employed by NSW Ambulance while they complete a degree in paramedicine at university.
“They have just completed a comprehensive 12-week induction program at the NSW Ambulance Education Centre.”
The Minns Labor Government is committed to deploying 500 additional paramedics in regional, rural and remote communities.
Each year, NSW Ambulance receives more than 1.18 million Triple Zero (000) calls for assistance and our ambulance vehicles travel more than 55 million kilometres to keep the community safe.
NSW Ambulance provides high quality clinical care, compassion, relief of pain and suffering and rescue and retrieval services to the more than 8.1 million people of NSW.
