Councils can share in $3 million to push regional housing

Lismore MP Janelle Saffin is urging local councils to apply for a share of a $3-million funding round to boost regional housing development.

MEMBER for Lismore Janelle Saffin is encouraging local councils to apply for a share of $3 million in NSW Government funding for projects that support the delivery of more well-located and affordable homes.

“Councils can now apply for between $20,000 and $250,000 for individual projects as part of the NSW Government’s Regional Housing Strategic Planning Fund,” Ms Saffin said.

“Councils can use the funds to speed up new housing strategies, prepare infrastructure and servicing plans and make local planning amendments for the delivery of more diverse and affordable housing supply.

“It’s good to see the NSW Government and local councils working together to create a pipeline for new homes.

“These projects will support regional NSW towards its housing target of 55,000 homes during the National Housing Accord.

“The Minns Labor Government is committed to solving the housing crisis so that regional communities can grow.”

Round three is now open and closes at 12pm on Friday 22 November 2024.
