LISMORE MP Janelle Saffin is encouraging multicultural and multifaith community groups in her electorate to apply for a share in $500,000 to deliver grassroots Festivals and Events that foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity in 2024-2025.

Ms Saffin says eligible organisations can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $20,000 to help organise festivities that celebrate and embrace our state’s vibrant cultural diversity.

“This is an opportunity for grassroots not-for-profit organisations across our Electorate of Lismore to secure a Festival and Event grant to enhance an existing festival or launch a new community celebration,” Ms Saffin says.

“Exploring different cultures, sharing international cuisine, world music and entertainment is the ideal way to bring people together. It makes for more vibrant and harmonious communities.”

Multicultural NSW administers the grants on behalf of the NSW Government.

The festivals and events are scheduled to run between 1 March and 31 July 2025.

The grants remain open until Friday 11 October, 5pm and an information session is planned for 3 October, 11am.

NSW Minister for Multiculturalism Steve Kamper said:

“These celebrations not only serve to showcase the vibrancy and richness of NSW communities for all to share and appreciate, but they are also integral to the success of our state.”

“Cultural diversity is a precious part of our identity and way of life in NSW and something we should not take for granted.”
