Flood debris clean-up assistance extended for Northern Rivers

Janelle Saffin MP says there are still a few weeks left to register with the NSW EPA to get assistance with debris clean-up from the 2022 floods. Closing date is 1 May 2024.

PARLIAMENTARY Secretary for Disaster Recovery and Member for Lismore Janelle Saffin has welcomed the news from the NSW EPA that flood clean-up assistance for large and hazardous debris from the 2022 floods is still available.

“We know many people are still dealing with their clean-up from the floods and this is a welcome reminder that there is still time to register for assistance,” Ms Saffin says.

“If you have large items over 25kg or 1 cubic metre in size, or hazardous waste, including toxic or flammable items such as gas bottles, be sure register with soon.”

“Please note this assistance does not extend to natural debris such as trees or vegetation and the waste must have come from the 2022 floods.” Ms Saffin said.

If you have questions or wish to apply for assistance is encouraged to contact the NSW EPA on 131 555 or by emailing flood.programs@epa.nsw.gov.au.

You will need to provide details of your location and the type of debris for your eligibility to be assessed.

Please note applications close on 1 May 2024.
