Latest community grant opportunities

MEMBER for Lismore Janelle Saffin says grants are currently open for a number of initiatives to support local communities.

Ms Saffin is encouraging community organisations including schools and veterans organisations to check their eligibility and get their applications in.

Connecting Seniors Grants: 

Grants from $20,000 to $40,000 for projects that build social connections and reduce isolation for people 65 and over, or 50 and over for Aboriginal people.

Examples of eligible programs are:

  • Nature walks or birdwatching tours for people with low mobility
  • Yarning circle for older Aboriginal people
  • Free community transport to social activities

Applications close 5pm on 25 October, 2023.

Community Building Partnership:

Grants for infrastructure projects that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational benefits while promoting participation and inclusion.

Grants must be for building, refurbishing, or repairing community infrastructure, or for buying freestanding equipment or vehicles.

Examples or eligible programs are:

  • Upgrades to local halls and community kitchens,
  • Fixing drainage and upgrading facilities at sports fields
  • New facilities at local preschools

Grants from $5000 to $150,000.

Applications close 27 October 2023.

Community and Place Grants

Expressions of interest are now open for Aboriginal organisations to apply for the next round of grants to deliver on-ground activities to support Closing the Gap.

Organisations can apply for up to $250,000

Examples of eligible projects include:

  • Activities, programs, purchase or lease of equipment and capital works
  • A single project or multiple activities that form a larger project
  • Local partnership projects where all parties are Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) or Aboriginal community groups and a program or infrastructure is being delivered in an Aboriginal community.

Expressions of interest close on 30 October 2023.

ANZAC Community Grants

Grants of up to $3000 to promote appreciation of service and sacrifice of military service personnel or for activities and services that enhance the wellbeing of veteran community.

Applications are open to individuals and not-for-profit organisations, including local government authorities, ex-service and non-government organisations and educational institutions.

Examples of eligible programs are:

  • Local community historical research and education
  • Preservation or display of war memorabilia
  • Public commemorative events

Applications close 5pm on 11 November, 2023.
