The Member for Lismore, Janelle Saffin, says local communities who need to maintain or repair their war memorials can apply for funding in the latest round of the Community War Memorials Fund for 2023-2024.

“The latest funding round opened on Anzac Day, a time when we gather at our local war memorials to honour those who served in wars and peacekeeping missions.”

Community groups can apply for up to $10,000 to assist with conservation, specialist cleaning and repairs of local memorials including honour rolls.

For example, in the previous round Richmond Valley Council was awarded $10,000 for conservation work to two First World War honour rolls at the Woodburn Memorial Hall which suffered damaged in the 2022 flood.

To be eligible for funding, the memorial must be listed on the NSW War Memorials Register.

Applications close on 25 July 2023.  Details at www.veterans.nsw.gov.au
