NSW LABOR LEADER
SHADOW MINISTER FOR MULTICULTURALISM
Easter is a special time for many people across our state.
For me, and for other Christians, Easter is a very holy time of the year. It is a time of rebirth, renewal and forgiveness. We celebrate the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his promise of eternal life to all people.
This year’s Easter will not be an easy time for people across NSW.
People across our state are concerned for the health and wellbeing of their family members and friends.
Many people have lost their jobs and are worried about how they will take care of themselves and their loved ones.
Many families that were looking forward to worshipping and spending time with one another must now stay apart.
Churches across our state that would normally be full will instead be almost empty and congregations all over NSW will be worshipping remotely to keep each other safe and healthy.
Many nurses, paramedics, doctors, allied health and other essential workers will be spending Easter away from their families. Instead, they will be working to keep our community safe, often with their own health at risk to do so.
I thank these workers from the bottom of my heart for all that they are doing for our community.
My prayers this Easter are with them, and with all the families across Australia who are struggling during these difficult and uncertain times.
This is a time where our community must come together to look after one another and make sure that no one is left behind.
From my family to yours, happy Easter.
